Blade Maid by RedShoulder Blade Maid by RedShoulder
A sketch (or rather, two sketches sync'd together in PhotoShop) of the character Blade Maid. This one is a contribution to rose-sarasa's Project ADMIN; hope she can be used!

The basics: Blade Maid's real name is Jennifer Rowen, but she was raised to be a hard core fighter using the curved blades that she has. She's a bodyguard to a young boy and the maid outfit is part of that.

And yes, she can kick and slice up your @$$ without breaking a sweat. You can call her one of the good guys (or girls), and she's a redhead with green eyes.

Drawn in carmine red pencil. Enjoy and comment!

Cuteness and Moe' meets hardcore fighting and combat. Just my type of anime! I think she'd fit well into the TV Trope, "Ninja Maid."

Also, who would win in a fight of Blade Maid vs Sakuya from Touhou? Sakuya is also a Blade-armed Maid, and is a rather tough combatist. I wonder if Blade Maid could beat her in a fight though?

Good question about who would win the fight!  I am interested in dong another BM piece, showing her after a fight, but that might not be for a while.

....and I've had the idea of doing a series of illos featuring other "Ninja Maids", but that might take some time!

Wow cool! That would be great if you were to draw more cute and awesome Maid Fighters! They'd be so awesome! And I bet you know who Sakuya is, right? She's one tough, but still adorable little maid!

Also, since it's relevant, I myself have this one OC of mine who is also a "Ninja Maid," though she does not use knives, but she uses Needle Blades and a neat staff with a bladed end, and she has other cool powers too. I like your quote of "I sell my soul, but at the highest rates," and for that matter, my Ninja Maid OC gained her powers after selling her soul to a certain white and fluffy little creature. I doubt your Blade Maid would stand a good chance against her though, but it would still be quite a fight for mine.

Thanks!

You know, I did have the nutty idea to do a series of images involving "blade maids"...who knows, it might be worth pursuing?

Do as you wish but my opinion is : it's probably not really worth it.

Maid warriors have been overdone by the japanese (you see them even when it doesn't fit with the context now!), and it's really hard now to inject fresh air into this concept. If you invest lot of personnal work into a project, might as well be for a project that is more "you", more unique.

Maybe it's a kinda idealized opinion of a guy seeking originality at all costs (and probably against all odds, as "pure" originality never exists XD).

I guess drawing the maids would at least make for great practice, even if it's not the most original work ever. So if you really feel like you should do it, just go ahead.

Hmmm...good point.  As it is, it would probably be only a handful of pieces--probably no more than six or less.

"Maybe it's a kinda idealized opinion of a guy seeking originality at all costs (and probably against all odds, as "pure" originality never exists XD)."  Even so, it's an opinion worth hearing and considering.  Especially when it comes to art.

Right now, this is just an idea, a rather nebulous one at that.  There are other things that I am looking to start on before this (and maybe this may never come to fruition!).  Whatever happens, thank you for giving me your thoughts--I'll definitely take them into consideration.

Well, I guess sometimes artists see their minds wander on ideas that might never get done (I talk from experience XD)

If you get an interesting idea around the whole fighting maid trope, it could be worth it to expand, it's just that I believe it's hard to come up with a new idea relative to that, seeing how common the fighting maid became in otaku culture.

Anyway, keep up your good work.

ALSO: This pose reminds me of one of the scenes where my character Enid is strutting her stuff with the de-conjoined p-knife. (A statement I'm sure will make sense only to you and me and absolutely no one else reading this.)

Yep...but it is cool to know!

Also....found and bought a used copy of "We" from my local library.  I've heard you praise the book, and it's on my shel waiting to be read (still have to get through Leonard's PRONTO and 52 PICK-UP first, along with THE DAEDALUS INCIDENT...).
