Tiffany commission by RedShoulder Tiffany commission by RedShoulder
This is a commission for John Barnes, using his character, the space explorer Tiffany.

Thanks again for giving me the shot at this, John!

Hand-drawn and colored in PhotoShop.

Agreed!

Normally I don't match up any art I do to a specific song or instrumental piece, but....maybe I should.

I'm totally "favorite-ing" this. It reminds me of the look of Outlaw Star, one of my favorite Animes from back in the day. It even has the glamour and space exploration angle too! Who is this, exactly?

Ah, a fellow OUTLAW STAR fan--yep, I'm a fan of the show, and even have a couple of volumes of the source manga.

I've been a space exploration buff since I was a kid, and even though it's cooled as I've gotten older, it's still there. Tiffany was created by John Barnes [link], and she's supposed to be an explorer. John had liked my "girls in spacesuits" artwork and asked if I could take a crack at Tiffany.

Hope this helps--and thank you so much for the fave!

Thank you so much!

Just so you know, I am in the process of working on another piece involving Tiffany (with the permission of her creator, of course). It might take some time before I post it, but please keep an eye out for it in the coming months.

Looks cool. Love the detail and the cool suit you gave her.

Thanks so much! The hardest part, I guess, was the coloring--the pencil work and inking was a breeze compared to coloring it...

That she is...but remember, she isn't my character! 8-)

Still, I'm glad I got the chance to do this, and hopefully I can try another (but I'll have to ask John first...).

I must say I really like these! Even if this one isn't part of your zero grav series. Good work man!

Hold on: The John Barnes? Author of A Million Opening Doors, Kalideoscope Century, and The Armies of Memory, just to name a few of his novels?

Sir, I take my hat off to you!

No, not _that_ John Barnes! (Although, now that you mentioned it, they do have the same name!)

No, this John Barnes is a very nice chap who liked the ZERO GRAV images and commissioned me to create a picture using his character, Tiffany. I was happy to oblige.

But if it was THE John Barnes...well, that would be very cool.

(Side note: while I never met him face to face, I did have a brief correspondence by letters with the late great Sir Arthur C. Clarke, author of 2001, CHILDHOOD'S END, RENDEVOUS WITH RAMA, and many other classic SF novels. That was an experience I will treasure for many years.)

Ah. My mistake. ^^;

And for you to have had exchanged letters with Sir Arthur... that is simply wonderful.

Well, you're always welcome.

For those wondering, I saw his ZERO GRAV works, and liked 'em. I mentioned my Tiffany to him, and since they were so similar, he did this for me.

I could've sworn it was another addition your space girl drawing!

Hah hah! Yeah, it may look that way, but this one has nothing to do with the ZERO GRAV stuff...although John had liked the space girl drawings a lot, and since Tiffany was similar...
